Background
Anthony wanted a two-way motorcycle alarm that could notify him if his bike was disturbed while he was away from it, particularly during meal stops or overnight stays when traveling.
His previous motorcycle alarm failed after developing internal corrosion. He later tried two used two-way alarms, but neither worked properly. After searching for another solution, he selected the EESENS Guardian 2-Way Alarm for its price, loud siren and two-way alert function.
Installation Approach
What Was Used
-
EESENS Guardian 2-Way Alarm
-
One stainless-steel cable tie supplied with the alarm
-
One plastic cable tie supplied separately
The alarm also included mounting bolts, but Anthony chose a suspended cable-tie installation.
1. Select a High Mounting Position
Position the alarm high in the motorcycle’s windscreen and instrument area.
Anthony chose this location to improve the radio signal used by the two-way alert function. The elevated mounting point also keeps the alarm close to the front of the motorcycle.
2. Orient the Siren Outward
Mount the unit with its piezo siren facing outward.
This directs the alarm’s loud sound toward anyone interfering with the motorcycle instead of allowing the surrounding bodywork to block it.
3. Secure the Alarm
Use one stainless-steel cable tie and one plastic cable tie to hold the alarm in place.
The unit was left slightly suspended rather than being rigidly bolted to the motorcycle. The stainless-steel tie provides the harder-to-cut mounting point, while the plastic tie supplies additional support.
4. Preserve Access to the Battery Case
Position the plastic cable tie so it can be cut when the batteries need to be replaced.
The batteries are stated to last approximately six months. Removing the plastic tie makes it easier to open the alarm case, while the stainless-steel tie remains more difficult to cut or remove.
Result
The completed installation places the alarm high on the BMW K100 for better two-way radio performance and directs the siren outward for maximum audible effect. The combination of stainless-steel and plastic cable ties provides both tamper resistance and practical access for battery maintenance.
Anthony uses this alarm as one part of a five-layer security setup consisting of the EESENS Guardian, two additional alarms, a motorcycle cover and a disc brake lock.
